Dentists your Exclusive Year-end Checklist is INSIDE

Nov 5, 2026 | Dental Insights

As 2026 comes to a close, are you making the most of the financial opportunities available to you? Between caring for patients, managing a practice, and balancing personal responsibilities, it’s easy for financial planning to fall to the bottom of the priority list.

But the final months of the year are an important opportunity to evaluate where you stand, identify potential gaps, and make informed decisions before heading into the new year.

Whether you’re an associate, practice owner, or preparing for retirement, here are five questions worth asking before December 31.

1. Am I maximizing my retirement savings? Your strategy should evolve as your income and practice grow. It’s important to get regular benchmarking. If you have a plan make sure to max your contribution. See 2026 401(k) key numbers here. Not sure the last time your 401(k) plan was benchmarked? Let us do it for you!

2. Is my practice’s success translating into personal wealth? A profitable practice doesn’t automatically build long-term personal financial security. Personal financial goals are being achieved by your practice(s) success.

3. Have I had a year-end tax planning conversation? Tax planning isn’t just for spring. Some opportunities have hard year-end deadlines. Talk to your dental specific CPA ASAP about where you should be. Don’t have a dental specific CPA? We can help connect you with one!

4. Does my insurance coverage reflect my life today? Coverage established early in your career may no longer match your current income, family, or obligations. It’s important to update your coverage as you increase your income.

5. What do I want my financial picture to look like at the end of 2027? Setting clear priorities NOW means approaching the new year with intention.
