Hope you had a great weekend! I did a day hike to the North Georgia mountains on Saturday at the Amicalola Falls. When I first moved to GA, this city slicker had NO idea that GA has mountains! There are indeed mountains in GA! A little known fact: the GA mountains are the Southern Terminus of The Appalachian Trail. (which goes from North GA to Maine ) The Southern Terminus is located at the Amicalola Falls. The Falls are about a 1 to 1 ½ hour drive from the Atlanta metro area. I HIGHLY recommend going hiking here! The Falls are beautiful and there are many trail options to fit your abilities and time limits. You can also stay overnight at the many cabins located at the top of the falls or you can stay at The Amicalola Falls Lodge. Which, in my opinion, has the most beautiful views of the GA mountains.
