Today I am discussing the topic of retirement (or your next step) from a less financial perspective and more focused on your well-being. As a Wall Street Journal article title put it “Your 401(k) Isn’t Enough: To Invest for Retirement, Build Friendships and Hobbies”.
Our friends at JP Morgan have described it as using time to “PUSH” is associated with well-being in retirement:
Purpose- Creating a reason to get up in the morning
Use time to work, help others, go to events and activities
Socialize with friends & family; spend time with others
Health- Foster healthy behaviors.
As households transition into retirement, time that had been spent working now is available for other pursuits. Individuals often enter retirement having spent too little time determining how they plan to spend this time – and run the risk of not enjoying retirement as much as they had anticipated. To age well, consider using time to “PUSH” to feel satisfied and flourish at older ages.
We work with our clients not only to help them be financially ready for retirement but also coach them to be emotionally ready. Ready to review your overall retirement plan? Reach out and let’s chat!
